| SpectraPeel™
for Enlarged Facial Pores |
| Pores
are an opening into a sebaceous gland or hair follicle
and secrete oil to lubricate and protect the surface of
the skin. They play a vital role in skin physiology and
are often barely visible on those with drier skin. Individuals
with oily, thicker skin tend to have larger, more noticeable
pores. Enlarged pores are often due to sun damage, aging
and the overproduction of sebum and can cause the epidermis
to thicken and the dermis to lose its elasticity. Acne
vulgaris and enlarged pores often go hand-in-hand. Dead
skin cells, sebum, skin oils, and colonizing bacteria,
such as Propionibacterium acnes (P. Acnes) and Staphylococcus
epidermidis (S. epidermis), choke the follicular opening
while expanding the diameter of the pore. SpectraPeel
from Lutronic represents the latest in non-ablative skin
rejuvenation procedures. SpectraPeel¢â delivers
an effective and long lasting treatment for enlarged pores
while tightening the entrance of pores and stimulating
collagen regeneration. SpectraPeel is a carbon assisted
laser peeling system that not only solves multiple issues
relating to large pores including the reduction of sebum
and controlling inflammatory acne but also has a general
beneficial effect on skin tone and laxity. In short SpectraPeel¢â
is the multi-functional treatment of choice for enlarged
facial pores. |

How
does SpectraPeel™ work?
SpectraPeel induces superficial peeling as a result of
photomechanical action and removes excessive sebum, exf
oliates the upper layer of skin and unplugs the pores.
First 40 n carbon particles are penetrated into the
pores. Next the energy from the Lutronic Spectra laser
is absorbed by the skin and explodes the carbon particles.
This process causes the inner walls of the pores to reduce
in size by way of stimulation and mechanical damage. The
subsequent dermal remodelling effect with the Lutronic
Spectra in Q-switched mode promotes regeneration of collagen
and recovers elasticity in the skin. How many
treatments are required?
In most cases, 3-5 treatments will be required for optimum
and long lasting results. It is recommended that treatment
be repeated every 2-4 weeks for pore size reduction. Return
check-ups will be scheduled to monitor and maintain results.
How long will clinical results last?
While laser treatments are considered to be long lasting
they are not permanent. Patients can help maintain their
new appearance by carefully following the instructions
of their physician on skin care and by avoiding excessive
exposure to the sun. What kind of risks are
involved?
SpectraPeel™ is a safe treatment that is performed
on thousands of men and women each year with no major
complications. |
